Work Health & Safety Officer

Fixed term for 6 months

The Work Health & Safety Officer supports the delivery of a safe, healthy, culturally respectful and compliant workplace across Mamu Health Service Limited. Reporting to the Quality, Compliance and Work Health & Safety Coordinator, the role provides day-to-day WHS administration, records management, inspection support, training coordination, incident and hazard follow-up, consultation support and routine reporting across MHSL sites.

Position Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate WHS records, registers and evidence in approved organisational systems, including LogiQC/LogiqcQMS or other approved tools.
  • Support the recording and follow-up of hazards, incidents, near misses, inspections, emergency drills, training records, corrective actions and continuous improvement actions.
  • Monitor routine WHS actions and due dates, follow up outstanding information with relevant staff and managers, and escalate overdue, serious or high-risk matters to the Coordinator.
  • Assist with document control, version control, filing, scanning, archiving and secure storage of WHS records.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy when handling staff, client, incident, health, safety or organisational information.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current QLD drivers licence or the ability to obtain it from another state
  • Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain
  • Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of computer databases, electronic client management software, and administration office skills
  • Relevant administrative experience, preferably involving workplace health and safety an advantage
  • Certificate III Work Health & Safety preferred, or the ability to obtain

Selection Criteria

    2. WHS administration and records
      Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate WHS records, registers, spreadsheets, training records, inspection records, incident documentation and corrective action follow-up.
    3. Work under general direction
      Ability to work independently on allocated tasks under general direction, apply established procedures, use judgement in routine administrative matters and escalate complex or high-risk issues appropriately.
    4. Communication and consultation support
      Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear WHS communications, meeting notes, reminders and routine reports.
    5. Technology and systems
      Competency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use or quickly learn WHS, quality, compliance and records management systems.
    6. Values, confidentiality and safety
      Demonstrated commitment to MHSL values, confidentiality, child safety, cultural safety, equity, inclusion, workplace safety and professional conduct.
