November 26th, 2020 mamuhsl-admin
Wednesday 25th November is International Day against Violence against Women, was declared by the UN as ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women’. Through 25th November to 10th December is 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign.
White Ribbon Australia is a part of a global social movement working to eliminate gendered violence. Its aim is to strive for an Australian society where all women and children are safe.
White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement engaging men and boys to end men’s violence against women and girls, promote gender equality and create new opportunities for men to build positive, healthy and respectful relationships.
The White Ribbon Australia movement works through a primary prevention approach in communities, schools and workplaces across the country. Through White Ribbon Australia programs and campaigns, they engage with men to become active in the social change needed to stop men’s violence against women and children.
Mamu Health Service Limited held a display at Innisfail’s ANZAC park that exhibited 52 black silhouettes. Each representing 1 Female who dies of Domestic Family violence each week.
Last year there were 63 women and 24 children who had lost their lives at the hands of someone known to them. 2020 there were 43 women and 11 children and now with less than 5 weeks left in the year let’s work together to fight violence against women. STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT.

I would like to thank Bronwyn and Weronika from Innisfail Youth and Family Care.
