Innisfail NAIDOC 2020 celebrated the theme “Always Was – Always Will Be” however sadly due to Covid 19 Restrictions the regular five (5) day program was reduced to only two (2) day event.

This community event was facilitated by Mamu Health Service Limited in partnership with other government and non-government agencies who have made this a successful community event possible.

This years’ Community NAIDOC Program consisting of the Community NAIDOC Morning Tea held at the Johnstone Shire Hall thanks to the in-kind support of the Cassowary Coast Regional Council. The event layout saw a range of speakers touching on the NAIDOC Theme “Always Was – Always Will Be” as well as the efforts and ongoing commitment of Mamu Health Service Limited within this space. The attending audience was then served a mouth-watering assortment of sweet and savoury dishes that we donated by Roscoes Italian Restaurant in Innisfail.

The second event Innisfail NAIDOC Community Street Walk held on Friday, November 13th saw a cross-section of community members attend along with local dignitaries such as Mayor Mark Nolan, CCRC CEO James Gott and community Elders from Chjowai HACC Program just to name a few. As well as locals there were a few out of town people who attended including a special appearance from “Murries on Bikes” who are affectionately known as MOB. This group comprised of members who had ridden up from Brisbane and Mackay as well as a member who had come across the Simpson Dessert to be a part of the local celebrations. What an absolutely incredible spectacle that really was the icing on the cake for the Walk down the main street of Innisfail.
